Team Work! Achieve More Together!
I am honored to serve as the 35th President of the NC JCI Senate!
I never imagined in 1989 when I joined the Greensboro Jaycees that the Jaycees would play such a large role in my life. To be frank, I joined the Jaycees to meet friends! But I found so much more. I found friends that will last a lifetime; I found a passion for community service that has extended beyond my Jaycee involvement; I found a new career in training! Most importantly, I found a second family!
‘Team Work! Achieve More Together!’ this year’s theme seems to fit my life. As many of you know, I grew up in a very sports oriented family. I grew up watching my Dad coach high school basketball. I paid close attention to his leadership style. He was a calm, confident, and uplifting coach who emphasized team work. He focused on teaching and practicing the fundamentals. Even when there was an obvious star player, the focus was on team, not one person. Through his example and many more, I learned that you can achieve more with team work! Teams bond together much like family. In a team, when one person struggles, others step in to lend a hand or a kind word. Everyone pitches in for the greater good. I see the relationship between the local chapter, the NC Jaycees, the NC JCI Senate, and the US JCI Senate as a team that is only made stronger by working together as a team. We are a family by choice, a team available to lend a hand, a kind word, to celebrate each others successes. With Team Work, I know we can achieve more together!
